That's a Wrap!

As of 12pm today, my amazing, smart, hilarious, creative, inquisitive, hard working third graders are 4th graders.

Another year is through and what a year it was.
My 4th year in third grade, I really feel like I came into my own this year. I had it down, I knew what I wanted to accomplish and had the experience and tricks up my sleeve to make it one amazing year.

And my group this year? 39 of the funniest kiddos I have ever taught. We laughed, we learned, but we mainly learned while laughing.
We accomplished so much this year. I had a class who voraciously devoured anything I gave them. We had seriously deep discussions, we read numerous books, we covered so much more than ever before - all because of their drive and desire to learn and grow.
Third grade is a pivotal year.
They grow from learning to read to reading to learn.
From place value and addition and subtraction to multiplying and reducing fractions.
Simple sentences to complex opinion and informational essays.
They learned how to take notes and write research papers.
Over the past two weeks I watched 39, 8 and 9 years olds presenting their homemade power points with confidence and ease. I got a bit emotional knowing their time with me was up. They are more than ready to tackle 4th grade, they did me proud this year!

And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

They were very lucky to have you. I still remember my 3rd and 4th grade teachers and things we learned and read back then had an influence throughout my life. It looks like they had a blast. Happy summer.

What a fun year you had with your kids. I can't believe how many are in your classroom. Here they can't have more than 29-30 kids per teacher. It sounds like you made learning a great experience for your students. Have a wonderful summer.

So true about 3rd grade and that's why I loved teaching it, too! It's been so fun following your journey over the years and i get a huge kick out of the things they say. Can't wait for next year...but first enjoy your summer! Happy for your good news today, as well. Phew!
