Jamming

Oh strawberry avalanche, crash over me...

Oh strawberry avalanche please crash over me...

{Strawberry Avalanche - Owl City}

For the past 3 years, I have been making my own strawberry jelly. I take an afternoon one July day and make a berry big mess - but the fruits of my labor are worth it: a year's worth of homemade strawberry jelly!

This year I got lucky, I was able to get the berries at my farmer's market. So only local organic berries in my jam this year!

It's a marathon of an afternoon: wash, chop, mash, strain, boil, mix, can, clean. But oh so worth it!

This year I crunched the numbers. The price of the berries + the pectin = less than a year's worth of jelly at the grocery store! (I bought the jars so long ago I don't even factor that into the cost of the yearly project).
And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

What a colorful array of fotos to go along with a tune that I haven't thought about in a long time. Thanks for the memory and these visual delights. I made strawberry and some strawberry rhubarb jam recently, what a sticky treat. Always keep music in you heart and keep on snapping. I hope that you will stop by again soon.

You can't even start to compare homemade strawberry jam with the one from store. Congratulation for your hard work. And colorful photos.

I love homemade jam. Kiwifruit and strawberry or feijoa and apple are my favorites.

That's really great, to do that on your own. Greetings!

I love that you do this AND that you were able to get them locally grown. That always makes me happy. This year we had enough come off the raspberry bush for one jar of jam & the blueberries should give me enough for a pie- after we made blueberry pancakes & syrup. Something so satisfying about making your own.

I love how pretty the jars of jam look. I haven't made mine in awhile. It is berry messy, you're right..but worth it!

Oh, wow, look at all that jam! We're going berry-picking later this week, but the berries will probably be all eaten before we can even spell j-a-m!

Loved this post, the jam looks glorious! We do similar as we have a really generous red-currant bush in our garden and for the past four years I just cannot stand to let the fruit go to waste! :D

Yummers! This week was the last week for the Local berries being picked here. I don't can (to much work) but I've sure enjoyed all the wonderful berries. - So happy you are enjoying yours.
