The Good. The Random. The Fun. v. 28

The Good:
Some amazing sunsets from my cousins' apartment in Riverdale.

The Random:
Why is it that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors always die in the middle of the night? Shocked awake after midnight to this lovely contraption telling me it was dead (not battery dead, but dead dead). Know how hard it is at 12:30 am to try to count beeps? "5 chirps = dead machine" but "4 chirps = dangerous level detected"...

The Fun:
I signed up to do a virtual 4 mile run in honor of Andrea Barber (ala Kimmy Gibbler) turning 40. (4.0...40). The proceeds went to Girls on the Run International, so great cause! I didn't expect the awesome swag to arrive in the mail!! Medal, personalized and autographed shot, and run t-shirt. Not bad for 4 miles work!

Ours die in the middle of the night and they are all hard wired (7!!) so when one goes, they all chirp! :(

Gorgeous skies!!

Luke's elementary school has a Girls on the Run chapter. Such a great program.

I'd never tire of those sunsets for sure. And I totally agree on the smoke alarm and dying in the middle of the night. And congrats on the swag and for the good cause. Thanks for hosting this great meme Tamar.

Love the view in the first shot & very cool about your swag! Is that your bedspread? I have the same exact one!!!! :) How about that!

I love sunsets! I wish we had some nice ones like that here! That's crazy how the beeps for a dead machine and a warning level are so close! And awesome swag!

Same thing happened to me this week with the carbon monoxide alarm. After a few attempts Thing #3 and I determined there were 5 chirps which meant...get out the hammer and smash it so it stops chirping!

It once took us two hours in the middle of the night to figure out what smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector was beeping! We live in a large house and have many and the one that was dying turned out to be one we forgot about that was in our office.

Your cousin has fabulous views! I would always be looking out the window!

We have a lot of issues with our smoke and carbon monoxide detectors too. They do go off at the worst times! We recently purchased 10 year smoke detectors so we wouldn't even have to change the batteries, they both started chirping at 4 MONTHS! I have gotten replacements from the company but that is ridiculous!
Those sunsets are stunning. The skies have been so wowza lately!! What a cool run and a great cause. Kimmy!

Those COLORS!!! I love!!!!! And I so feel your pain on waking up from a dead sleep to a chirping detector. NO FUN!! And I love that 4.0 for 40 idea. Gonna file that one away....

Those skies! How gorgeous! And how is Kimmie Gibler 40? Probably the same way I'm 44, but still!

I said I'm going to change all of my units at the same time next time one goes off and you're right...they always go off in the middle of the night. Hate it.

Stunning sunsets for sure!
Once ours went off in the middle of the night (defect) and the cat that was sleeping under the covers went ballistic and scratched my legs to pieces.
