Little Things: Holiday Cactus

I've had my Christmas Cactus for years now. It went years and years without blooming and then began to bloom at random times of the winter. I've always loved the bright pink blooms that have finally emerged and renamed it the "mixed up cactus."
This year...the buds began to emerge right on time! I woke up on December 23rd, the eve of the eve of Christmas AND Chanukah to this wonderful site! Even better that it's been blooming since then, a nice pop of pink on these gray winter's days.

There is something about a spot of color and a new burst of plant life at the start of winter to brighten the mood!

I love Christmas cactus. I don't have one right now but seeing yours has made me think of a perfect place in my house to put one.

Yes! Such a welcome color on these gray days. Our lily was like that - it didn't bloom for years - then we started getting one flower a year & since we have been up here we get multiple at a time consistently. It must like it here. It's always such a treat to get the miracle of blooms.

My mother-in-law, the plant queen, says if it blooms like that it likes where it is at. :-D Looks like you Christmas Cactus is happy at home.

That's funny. Many of our blooms are mixed up here because we have 90 degree temps sometimes in the winter. I saw daffodils around here recently, way too early!

I like that plant. It always brightens winter. I mean, when it's dark and cold outside, it's nice to look at it.

I've seen those around, but never really knew what they're called. Christmas Cactus... I like the sound of that. :)

It's very pretty. You obviously have green fingers if you have managed to keep it going for a few years!

I meant to get a Christmas cactus last month but forgot. Will definitely get one in December. They're so lovely.

My mom had several Christmas cactuses and they had a mind of their own about when they would bloom - but when they did, they were beautiful.
