Glow - Neon Lights

Not too many years ago, the Rose Kennedy Greenway was a bustling highway. Now it's one of the cities best parks, in my opinion. With the highway buried beneath it, the greenway is a fantastic spot to stroll and enjoy the city views.

Often there are rotating public art installations which are pretty awesome. This summer these old neon signs from former local landmarks were on display. Relics from the state's past became art in the modern age!
The Siesta Motel in Saugus c. 1950s
Bay State Auto Spring in Roxbury c. 1965
European Resturant in Boston c. 1970s
Flying Yankee Restaurant in Auburn c. 1953
State Line Potato Chips in Wilbraham c. 1950s
Fontaine's Resutrant in West Roxbury c. 1952
Cycle Center in Natick c. 1956
General Electic Radio in Roxbury c. 1925

Pretty cool to be able to see some pieces of local history, all together!
They really don't make 'em like they used to, that's for sure.

I have been to Boston many times, but have never been on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. I will have to look it up next time I go. Great photos of the old neon signs!

How cool! We have an old motel sign in our county museum, but I love the idea of an art display of them!

That is VERY cool! Reminds of me of a place called the boneyard in Vegas - which is the neon sign museum - it's neat to see history that way.
