The local kosher supermarket had an amazing offering of more exotic fruits ahead of Rosh Hashana. It's a custom to eat fruits you haven't had in a year, so many people go to the more exotic types since we don't often eat them.

The Fun:
Part of Rosh Hashana is called tashlich where we go to the water and cast out sins ahead of a new year. I joined the 4th graders at the beach for their early ceremony as part of the Judaic studies class.

Some lovely looking fruit there! We enjoyed delicious pomegranate salad and dates. Shana Tova x
OMG the leaf dumping! How funny! Those fruits are look so amazing! I was just reading on Glass of Glam about the Jewish tradition of eating apples and honey as well and it made me hungry! And I love that you took the kids to the beach for Judaic studies! That is so great!

...I know few of them.
...or a failure to process.
...there are so many sin to cast out.
It is just amazing how many people completely ignore signs! LOL
That always amuses me when signs are blatantly ignored like that! How fun the kids have a beach on campus!
Shana Tova! Good health and happiness in the new year!
Love the leaf dumping photo.
Wishing you a sweet year!
I love this exotic fruits tradition - I wonder how the 'eat fruit you haven't eaten in a long time' bit started? Also love the idea of casting stones into the ocean...
Very nice. Happy New Year to you.
I suspect some people like to disobey signs. They need to cast out their sins!
Happy first day of fall!

That's an amazing fruit selection and what a great tradition tashlich sounds like. Glad you could experience an early ceremony with the kids.
Oooohhhh... now I want to buy some more exotic fruits!
