Amaryllis

My amaryllis bloomed so beautifully! I bought this really cool one at Trader Joe's - no planting needed, it was a waxed bulb and self-sufficient. No fuss, but all the prettiness.
The pollen may have tried to kill me, but totally worth it for the pop of color in the winter time!

Oh it is beautiful, Tamar! I am sorry that the pollen was out to get you, but a beautiful red bloom in the middle of a gloomy winter might be worth sneezing half to death!

...we have an amaryllis that we bought in fall of 2019 and this year is like Jack's beanstalk. It's over 2 feet tall.

I have never seen a waxed bulb like that before. So pretty. I need a pop of color this time of year too. Thanks for sharing.

That is beautiful! We used to give them out as teacher gifts. I never got one for myself. I need to! Sorry about the pollen. I think you can pluck off the pollen as soon as it blooms without hurting the flower. That might help. My mom always does that with lilies to cut down on the mess.

That is so pretty! You cracked me up when you talked about the pollen. Since I live with Mr. Allergy, I guess I'd better not put that on my wish list. How do you water it or can you peel the wax and plant it later?
