I am a bit ashamed to admit I had really never explored the Seaport District of the city. Down in lower Manhattan, along the East River, it's one of the oldest parts of the city. Ships used to dock there and it was a bustling part of the emerging city center back in the "day." The neighborhood is home to some of the oldest architecture in the city with many of the historic buildings restored and still in use.
The cobble stone streets lead out of the Financial District to the piers with a few historic tall ships still docked. There are some little parks, a mix of shops and cafes, and a memorial to the Titanic all nestled in the little area. It was pretty cool to walk out onto Pier 15, turn around and see the new, modern Lower Manhattan rising above the old architecture; the old in the shadow of the new but still a big part of the city!

That is definitely one of the cooler parts of the city! I love the cobblestone streets down there. It has been decades since I have walked those streets. Thanks for this little memory!

Reminds me of Portland 's "Old Port." So beautifully historical!
We walked through on our last trip, and took a boat back to Brooklyn!
