I hadn't been down to the World Trade Center or Brookfield Place area in months and took advantage of a sunny summery afternoon to walk around. The Oculus is always stunning to come into from the subway. It's amazing how light and airy it is! Brookfield Place's outdoor promenade was bustling too; the hydrangeas were still in bloom, the boats docked in the harbor, and the patio tables filled with people dining al fresco.
I always feel so at peace right on the water and it's amazing to have the Hudson River in front of you and skyscrapers rising right at your back. I took a few minutes at the North Tower reflecting pool as I walked back to the subway. Even when strolling past them quickly, the Twin Tower monuments are awe-inspiring, they seamlessly fit into this neighborhood now as if they've always been there, yet they carry such a heavy profound load and meaning.
