NY Historical Society: History of the Jewish Deli

The NY Historical Society's featured exhibit is all about how Jewish immigrants imported and adapted their traditions to create the iconic American deli experience. The exhibit showcased the foods immigrants brought to America, how delis played a key role during both World Wars, and how delis became an American cornerstone in NYC and beyond.
There was amazing an amazing collection of are neon signs, menus, advertisements, deli workers’ uniforms, and more. It was so neat to see menus from 100 years ago and see how so many things have stayed the same and how much has changed. I left craving pickles...that is for sure!

...we had a number of wonderful Jewish Deli here when I was a kid. I don't think that we have any today.
