Liberty State Park

I took advantage of a stunning, humidity-free summer Sunday to walk around Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. The park is a really lovely stretch along the Hudson River, opposite Battery Park and Lower Manhattan with stunning views of the city, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. I had been there once before, to board a ferry to Ellis Island, but never had a chance to really explore.
The old train depot anchors the park and the paths stretch along the river. When I was there, they were filled with bikers and runners on a perfect day! A key feature of the park now is the Empty Sky Memorial. The memorial honors the 749 NJ residents who were killed on 9/11. The two walls are placed opposite where the towers once stood across the river. A truly touching memorial in a peaceful place!

What a pretty place. It looks very peaceful and not very crowded. Seems like you went a great time.

It's been so long since I've been there that I haven't seen the memorial.
