6BC - Botanical Garden

Nestled in Alphabet City is a true oasis! 6BC Botanical Garden is just a block from the famed Tompkins Square Park and a real hidden gem in the Village. 6BC is a community garden that was founded in the 1980s by community members who stumbled across a vacant, trashed lost between two apartment buildings. They turned into an amazing public place that makes you forget that the city looms outside the park gates.
The place is simply stunning! It was so lush and filled with little paths, sunken seating areas, a pond and fountain, bird houses, gazeboes, and even a tree house complete with comfy chairs and shelves of books to enjoy! The garden felt like it was under a spell, feeling far bigger than the footprint of the lot would let on. It was so relaxing to walk around on a late summer's day.

I always say parks make cities liveable and for this neighborhood, this is one amazing place to have!

I do love the hidden oasis feeling of the botanic gardens - in any city in the world.
