Happy Purim!

Happy {belated} Purim!
This past weekend we noshed on hamantashen, read the megillah, and celebrated Haman's defeat.
This year's Purim feels heavier. Once again a big, mighty "Haman" is trying to overpower and conquer the few, the innocent. The shabbat before Purim we read about the nation of Amalek attacking the Israelites as they leave Egypt. We vow to stomp their name out forever...never again. I keep seeing similarities between all these stories and it's a heartbreaking cloud over this usual joyous festival.
This year's Purim feels heavier. The rise in antisemitism we are seeing echoes Haman's plot to destroy the Jews, a plot to overpower and conquer the few, the innocent. It took the brave, righteous Esther to stand up for what she knew was right. Just like then, we need brave, righteous people to stand up against the rising hate in our world. Staying silent isn't an option!

It seems there is always a need for brave Esthers in our world. It's sad and frustrating and means we ALL have work to do.
