Luna Luna

The Shed currently has an amazingly unique exhibit, Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy. Luna Luna is a colorful, wimsical fun house of carnival rides and attractions by some of the 20th century’s most celebrated and innovative artists. Originally brought to life by AndrĂ© Heller, Luna Luna first enchanted audiences in Hamburg, Germany, during the summer of 1987 where it hosted 300,00 visitors.
While a world tour was planned, the park’s treasures were abandoned in storage containers in Texas for more than 30 years before being hunted down by entrepreneur Michael Goldberg and then purchased, sight unseen, by the musician, Drake. A team spent two years organizing and meticulously rebuilding the pieces, readying them for a second attempt at a world tour.

The pieces are truly spectacular! Some of my favorites including the Keith Haring carousel and the swings by Kenny Scharf. It really was so unique and I am glad that it is finally getting its chance to go on tour, for us all to enjoy!
