MET Roof 2025

I cut it down to the wire, but I finally made it to the MET rooftop to see this summer's exhibit! This year, there are three pieces by artist Jennie C. Jones called Ensemble.

Jones turns stringed instruments into something more than tools for music. She explores both their sound and form, treating them as acoustic sculptures.  Jones looks at a simple string as a metaphor. She sees "a continuous line that echoes the unbroken flow of art history".
The pieces were so cool - angular and also soft with the gentle strings that had some tunes blowing through them. I loved the red in contrast to all the blue and green in the skyline and Central Park.

This is also the last MET rooftop exhibit for a few years! The museum is about to undertake a huge renovation and expansion and the roof top will reopen when the work is done. Until 2030, MET roof!
