Show us Your Life - Office

Welcome back to my humble abode! This week on Kelly's home tour it's offices. I don't have an office per say it more like a wall and a 1/3 in my living room, but it works and it's a great place to study and such!

So - my desk/office is on the far wall of the living room. The couch serves as a great divider and the fact that my back is to the tv when I am facing my desk is a fabulous incentive to focus on work and not mindless tv!!
I am a neat freak about my desk (okay, and everything else too). I won't even go to the gym unless my desk is organized and neat so I promise this is normal and I actually didn't tidy up for the tour!

My desk and the drawer unit next to it are from IKEA. The desk is from the series where you choose the top (color, size, etc) and legs (style, etc) and make your perfect desk. I am in love with that desk chair which, no joke, I accidentally got at IKEA (thought I was getting another chair!) and it's so funky and different.
My diploma! I am so proud every time i look at it. It still feels surreal that I have a college diploma!
My office book shelf - all my various text books and other nicknacks.
This is a picture of my Zayda's family. It was taken when he was about 5 years old. He's the cute little boy in the second row from the front (yes, he's the one picking his nose, which he was proud to point out to us when we found this picture!).
This is super special to me too - my mom went to Wheelock College for her masters as well. She gave this to me when I was accepted last December - it was the college's gift to the graduates on her graduation day!
And on top of the book shelf. My zen garden and some family pictures - me shaking hands with the president of AU after receiving my diploma, my sister and I on her wedding day, and my sister and me (we were 2 and 9) in Florida one winter vacation.
The wall above my desk - some pictures, funny cards my mom has sent me over the years, and some bumper stickers.
"There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who see the rain as wet and dreary, and those who see the rain as an excuse to wear funny boots" - a great mantra!
These speak for themselves...
My board full of pictures and hangings and such. The pointe shoes where mine - one is autographed by Patricia McBride and the other is from when I graduated high school and left my dance group - great memories!
If you know NJ this is hilarious if not, I promise I am not nuts! And by the way - I was exit 36!
Now these are on the other wall of the living room, but I didn't have them up for the living room tour and I so wanted to share them!

This is by Michael Albert - he makes collages, he even does one where its the map of the US using cereal boxes to help him spell out the cities and states and make the map - this is called "Mr. Tangerine" and is his trademark piece and I got it autographed!
My sister and brother-in-law bought me this Decemberists concert poster for my 21st birthday and I just got it framed and am so happy to have it hanging on my wall. Sea turtles are my favorite animal so it's really extra special!

Thanks for stopping by! Who knew my office was so interesting until I wanted to show it to the world wide web!

It looks beautifully done Tamar! The chair fabric is lovely. My eye went right to it.

Thank you for checking out mine as well. I really appreciate it. The wall unit desk came from Ashley Furniture and the leather chair from Sams Club. I have never been to a Costco before but I have heard that they are wonderful. I hope we get one here soon.

Blessings to you and yours.
Warmly, ~Melissa :)

Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't those perfect frames from Ikea too? Because I'm pretty sure I have them, or at least ones that look similar which I found at Ikea!
