Memories

For the last homework, I asked the class to write about their memories of first grade. It was so amazing to see what really stood out to them and what they hope to take from the year. I know I have such fond memories and these just ad the place of 1L's amazingness in my heart.
All about me books, writing workshop, civil rights movement, and China.
Seeds, caterpillars, money, and "leser" (lasers).
Strawberries (recess game), field trips, May Fair, carnival of the animals (music class).
Butterflies, solids and liquids, shadows and light, flowers and plants.
Caterpillars, matter, mapping, and the presidents on the coins.
Math, art, language, and friends. (this little guy knew 3 words of English 176 days ago!)
Science, "selling" maps, bookmarks, and flags, poems, and butterflies.
Teachers helping, math centers, and friends.
Mapping, math centers, word wall bingo, and shadow puppets.
Sorry in math, all about me books, the 8th grade performance, and field trips.
Sorry in math, butterfly parts, all about me books, and self-portraits.
Making dumplings with N's mom and eating them.
Science and working with words.

Such amazing writing and such amazing kiddos. To think how far they have come and what they have learned this year. I hope they remember these experiences for years to come! Now onto the last 4 days of school!

That is a lovely idea to have the kids write down their memories from the school year...as a mom, I know I would treasure it as a keepsake...

That is *so* neat to see what stands out for them! How fun to know what they remember. Some really nice handwriting in here too!! :)

Oh those are ADORABLE! The best thing about my kindergartner finishing her first year of school was getting to look back at her writing in her journal. To see what she thought about each day and how she learned how to spell it...writing is the best!

(Says the writer...hah!)
