Song-agraphy: I won't grow up

May you stay forever young.
Forever young, forever young.

My mom always uses the line from Peter Pan, "I won't grow up." In many ways, I think that is true. I am in so many ways a kid inside. Most likely why I chose to become a teacher. I get to be a "grown-up" all while reliving childhood 5 days a week.

Scattered around my apartment are many little trinkets that represent my inner child. They are great reminders on the weekends, the days I need to be a grown-up at home, cleaning and paying bills, that it's totally fine to stay forever young deep inside your soul!

One of my favourite sayings is this:

"You´re a grown-up when you dare to be childish"

I think it´s very accurate. :-)

The kid part always stays with you. At flea markets I'm always buying the toys I had as a kid.

Well said and I do think the kids keep us young.

Love your heart for your kids! There's just nothing like being around kids of all ages to keep us young! {staying up with "our" boys, however, will NOT help us stay young! Especially when games are as crazy as last night. Such a hard way to loose.}

I hope you can keep that mindset forever. It is hard to do. I felt 22 for a long time, but I'm feeling more in my late 30's lately. Of course I've got another 15 years on that, but who is counting.
I like this child's toy as picturing the title. Hope all is well.

I like to act like a child sometimes too.

I feel the same way at school - although I work with teenagers. Some day's I feel more like a kid than they do!
Forever young in mind & spirit - don't ever change Tamar!

Yes, I agree! I keep "toys" and lots of children's books around to nurture the "forever young" part of my soul :)

I agree. Why grow up?? It's just not fun :). When I stop to think of my "real" age it scares me. In my head, I am still the age my kids are now!

I think it takes a "grown up" to realize you need to embrace your "inner child" :). It's what keeps us forever young on the inside, where it counts! Thanks for joining in on Song-ography!

Never lose that, if you can help it. It gets a little fuzzy in the later years. I can remember being excited when my daughter was old enough for My Little Ponies. I would brush their manes with more excitement than she would.

You are so right- it is lovely to act like a child sometimes ,careless and free. Definetely helps to stay young.

Here, Here to allowing our "inner child" to be forever young. I loved your interpretation of the song lyrics.

Hang on to "I won't grow up" forever - I truly believe it is the secret source of the fountain of youth. I have told my children countless times how much I enjoyed childhood a second time round with them - Barney never offended me; I enjoyed the silly Disney shows, and couldn't wait until the next Harry Potter book. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
