Song-ography: Modeh Ani

I get kissed by the sun each morning
Put my feet on {the ground}...just soaking up the day
I think to myself...I am blessed.

The first prayer we say each morning is called the Modeh Ani. It thanks God for giving us a new day to be alive. As I listened to this song, I thought of the prayer. Even when I am tired, or know I have a long day ahead of me, I wake up, look around me and see all the amazing blessings in my life.

We ended our week on Friday, saying what we are thankful for. Several kids said their gadgets or a small this or that, but many, many 8 and 9 year olds were thankful for their family, friends, and lives in general.

Me? I am thankful for a chance to live in an amazing city, teach amazing children, and experience life through their eyes as well as mine.

This world is a beautiful place!

Liking that first shot - yes I am! I would guess that in the course of your student's Thanksgivukkah they are also giving thanks for having an awesome-neat-cool-smart teacher. I know the rest of us who get to tag along through your blog are grateful.

Blessed holidays Tamar!

And I am thankful that I get to experience a bit of your life, and to learn to much about your religion try visiting you here :). That is a blessing to me! I really like the idea of a prayer like that. To start a day with gratitude sets you on the right path, and in the right state of mind, for a better day. Thanks for joining in on Song-ography. Happy Thanksgivikah to you and yours my friend!

Tamar, I'm inspired by your morning prayer. Some days I'm focused more on what I have to do and how I'll get through the day. I need a reminder to thank God for a new day! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Hanukkah this week!

Beautiful!! It's the things we sometimes take for granted, being able to enjoy walking outside to soak up the sun, or just holding a thoughtful & meaningful conversation with a loved one- it's those little things that seem everyday that we take for granted. But if you were no longer able to do them you would notice just how much you once enjoyed them. So important to thank the Lord for everything He has given us. Love your post!!
