Oh such a perfect day, I'm glad I spent it with you...
Noam is suddenly into pirate ships, so naturally we had to take him to the Tea Party ships here in Boston. Avi and I went here when we were kids, so it was fun to revisit the ships too.
You are given a name and identity of one of the participants from that night and the tour begins with a town hall meeting where Samuel Adams outlines the plan for the evening. Noam loved all the "huzzahs" and "boos" and was so ready to board the ship.
The guides were amazing and so funny and loved how engaged Noam was. As the guide was telling us that everything is original on the ship, he added the line "well, except the exit signs, fire alarms, and security system..." we all laughed and then I realized I took this...
Noam was all over being on a (pirate) ship. The guide on the boat was so sweet to him and even loved that he called it a pirate ship and said, "no need to correct him today, let him have fun!"
We also learned that the fancy East India Company wasn't so fancy. The tea was neither English or Indian, but rather Chinese. The guide quipped "made in China goes way back!"
They dumped over 300 barrels of loose tea into the water that night, we just pushed some boxes in, which was fun because I totally recall doing this as a child!
I really learned a ton, the participants were so honest and kept their oath to never share information about their evening of treason, that the list of participants is largely incomplete and was compiled many years later, usually when someone lay on their death bed did they then share their secret.
Noam was so enthralled with the (pirate ship), he even got his own hat that he proudly wore all afternoon and shouted "arg!!!" all over town.
Such a fun day, sometimes it's fun to play tourist in your own city, even more fun when it's through the eyes of an almost 4 year old!

Since retiring we spend a lot of time playing tourist at home.
I just took a tour at a historic place where they talked about the price of tea in Colonial America. It put the Tea Party into perspective regarding the financial loss involved with it.
This looks like a great day.

Oh my gosh! Can we come? This looks so fun and I know my kids would enjoy this day too. Need two new nephews and a niece? We've got some up for grabs!
