Song-osity: Setting Sun

I got a pocket full of sunshine...
Take me for a ride...
I smile up to the sky....
I know I'll be alright...
I got a pocket full of sunshine...

This weekend, each day had only 9 hours and 47 of daylight. 9 hours and 47 minutes of precious daylight.

Having grown up on the east coast my entire life, I've always been able to see the sunrises. The gorgeous moment of the sun cresting over the horizon, greeting the day.

A true sunset, those I haven't seen in their gorgeous entirety.

So, as the sun set, I decided to make my way to the Mt. Auburn Cemetery tower. It has stunning views of the city and region and has the perfect view of the western horizon.

As 4:22 approached, I waited with baited breathe, watching the sun dip lower and lower. The golden light was gorgeous. The few other people who braved the chilly evening were equally in awe.

And in the blink of an eye, the sun was gone. A day over. The light fading fast.

We had a gorgeous sunny day, but those last few minutes of our 9 hours and 47 minutes of day light may have been the most stunning and special.

It is amazing how fast a sunset happens- a glorious ending of the day.

Yes, the hours of sunshine are very short at this time of year. We face west so get beautiful sunsets most of the time.

Simply beautiful! Just what we need to forget a bad day or to conclude a good one: 5 minutes of silence and nature...
