Song-osity: Give a little bit

Give a little bit...
I'll give a little bit of my life to you...
So give a little bit...
Give a little bit of your love to me...

I found this sweet note on my desk this week. A bunch of my students leave me pictures and notes on a near daily basis. They are all from the heart and I cherish each one, tacking them up on on the bulletin board by my desk.

It's these little notes that mean so much. Teaching is a hard job. I spend so much of my free time finding ways to better my teaching, find interesting lessons, keep them interested and engaged.

But I do it all for these notes. I do it for the little guy who on a near daily basis says, "Ms. Benjamin, thank you for a great day of learning!" I do it for the parents who tell me they are so happy I am teaching their child.

I do it because I love seeing them learn. I love seeing how far they have come since September. How they're having amazing discussions, writing research papers, mastering math facts. I do it for the laughs, I do it for the smiles, I do it for them.

So glad that as I am giving them my all, they are loving what we do!

And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

A very rewarding and challenging profession. At least at your students' level you can see the growth. My mom taught high school and the feedback was by no means a daily/yearly thing. She did have several students come up to her years after her retirement and tell her that she made a difference in their life. Knowing how seldom a high school teacher hears this, I made it a point to send a note to one particular teacher who was huge in both my children's education to let her know that her efforts were recognized and most definitely appreciated.

Aw that is sweet! It's nice to see you getting those daily affirmations. It's very rare in any profession that the person doing the job knows how much or if they are appreciated, so that's great that you are having such an immediate impact on your students!

Those little notes are truly a reason to keep teaching, and you must be doing a wonderful job. My daughter is not particularly happy with my grandson's teacher this year, but they are getting through it. Maybe he should have you!

Hi Tamar,
I could never sustain being a classroom teacher. It amazes me that you can do it day in and day out, year after year. Well done!

What a sweet note! And to think you receive these often. This shows how open and accepting you are, that the children feel inspired to creatively express how much they love you. Just think -- they will remember you the rest of their lives.
