The Good. The Random. The Fun. v. 2.9

The Good:
I had the most amazing, once in a lifetime, chance to go to the Cambridge Google Headquarters on Friday to attend an Educational Technology summit. My mind is still blown by how amazing it was and how much I learned! So much more to share later this week.

The Random:
In Boston, you're allowed to place a "space saver" in your street parking spot once you dig your car out (which was not just buried in snow, but snow the plow threw on it too. These "space savers" can be anything: chairs, tables, cones, boxes. We get sublime and ridiculous. And don't take a saved space. People slash tires over this. Keep it classy, Boston.

The Fun:
First five day week in over a month? I went out for drinks with some friends, a nice way to round out a long, busy week!

I like when a community has certain boundaries that everyone respects - a "saved spot" being one of them. Can't wait to hear more about your day at Google and cheers to a 5 day week. HOW any of you have managed to keep your sanity through this is beyond me.

Very cool Google Experience!!!! I'm cracking up about the saved space - I don't know how that would work any place else.

Tamar, look forward to what you learned at a Google conference. How fun is that? I like the idea of being able to mark your spot after you have cleared it.

Okay, your random is super funny, but totally fair. I love the idea of keeping what you've worked for!

That looks like a fantastic learning experience!!!! THey are definitely a fun company. I love Boston, went there a lot to visit a friend that was going to school there, and with or without snow I would like to go back! HAve a great week!

I'd love to hear more about Google too!! I've heard the spot saving can get heated. It's got to be such a pain!
Good for you going out for some drinks after a long week!!

Your post made me think of the years we lived in Chicago...the stuff people put out to hold their places went from folding chairs to sleeper sofas. I. Have to say I don't miss it, but it was certainly a sense of community we don't have here in the country!

I see lots of "space savers" in some parts here, too --anywhere from a big rock, to a proper sign, to cement bags.

Your "random" is new to me!
When google is a building one regularly drives by (when I lived in S. Calif.), it loses its glamour:)

How cool to visit Google! I can't wait to see more! The techie in you must be geeking out! The space saver is cracking me up. I had no idea!

Can't wait to hear more about the Google conference! I heard on the news that people were no longer permitted to save parking spots - that their stuff would be confiscated starting this week, I think. Like their aren't better things to worry about. Glad you got in a 5-day week. We're still hoping for one here! We haven't had one since the middle of January!

I bet that google for education summit was awesome. I've seen a high school in our are built and run entirely by google. It's very high tech and a super nice school. We also have a google run test classroom at our elementary school. They are doing a lot of neat things there in hopes to get the whole school converted. We'll see. Glad you were able t get a full week in and end it right with some friends.

A space saver, that's awesome. I have never heard of that before.

Isn't it nice to have a "normal" week at school! It certainly helps the kids to be in a routine. Love those space savers!
