Baby I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake...
Shake it off, shake it off!
Making lemonade from lemons?
Last weekend my kitchen sink backed up. No biggie. I tried fixing it. No dice.
Then the pipes under the sink began to leak. Lovely. Water everywhere. Some kitchen gadget boxes ruined. Tons of towels dirtied. Not able to use the sink.
Plumber said call clog clearing company. Clog cleared. Pipes still leaking. Call the plumber. He'll come two days later. Still can't use the sink.
Two days later and after 2 hours of sawing, replacing, sealing - good as new. Good-bye 80 year old pipes that were entirely rusted out, hello no more leaks and the use of my sink.
It was actually amazing. Not the leak and the chaos and the disruption of life. But that I actually managed to weather this with minimal "AHH!" moments.
I made lemonade out of lemons.
A mess under my cabinets? An excuse to go to IKEA and reorganize.
Having to stay home and wait for the plumber? A longer workout and time at home planning and washing the dirty towels.
Not able to use my sink? A chance to get creative with dinner options and use the tub as a jumbo sink.
Not wanting to make more dirty dishes? An excuse to get starbucks two days in a row.
Guess I take my lemonade shaken, not stirred...

I'm impressed by your flexibility! (I'm so terrible at that.) Although anything for an excuse to go to IKEA...never a bad idea. :)
Brilliant, how great to look on the bright side of things. Glad you were able to get through it with minimal trouble and I'm glad there's no more leaky pipes.
These photos made me say "uh oh!". I'm glad you were able to make the best of it and find the silver linings...trips to Ikea and Starbucks! YES!!!
Oh, my, one of those disasters that can completely disrupt our lives. Love the way you made lemonade out of lemons.
Oops I also had to call the plumber, but came in a few hours!
That is the spirit! I guess it saves a lot of energy and nerves to handle lifes minor hick ups as you did.
How was IKEA? Always fun .
Love your interpretation of todays challenge.
glad it's all fixed now!
Tamar, sounds like you handled that perfectly!
Nice to have that taken care of. Love the way you made the best of the situation.
Aw man! Those moments are always a challenge, but glad you came out unscathed. I'm impressed the pipes made it 80 years. I guess they were due for a change.
Good on you for handling it well! Glad that it's all fixed now.
9BTW, that Z's current favorite song!)
ANY excuse to go to IKEA is good.
My dishwasher is not washing dishes - maybe I need to go to IKEA???
I'm glad you took things so calmly. I'd of been ape crazy.
Oh wow!!!! good for you!!!!! Am pretty much like you... now maybe you. And maybe now you´ll have more Starbucks without an excuse!
You are always so good at rolling with it. You inspire me Tamar - I love how you deal with the frustrations in life. Hugs!!!
I am glad the ordeal is over. At first I thought it was frozen pipes.
Love your last line-made em chuckle.
plumbing problems are the pits - we've had a few of those lately too.
Aww what a week, glad you got the all replaced :)
Good for you for shaking off the stumbling blocks last week brought your way. Thanks for sharing at Song-ography.
What a great way to see the lemons, and I love that "shaken not stirred"!
I guess those 80 year old pipes totally deserved a replacement. I'm happy that you settled everything smoothly and with less hassles. I really like your very positive attitude towards pet peeves coming your way. Keep it up, Tamar. Have a nice day! :)

I am so thankful that there are people out there who are good at doing the things I am terrible at! My sink backed up on me last month, and I had a royal mess all over. The plumber was able to fix it, thankfully. All I had to do was clean up the mess. I have four kids, I know how to do that.
