Love that dirty water

Well I love that dirty water...
Boston, you're my home!

-- "Dirty Water" - Dropkick Murphys

Finally made my way to Fenway to watch the Red Sox play. They're not having the best season...so I had no real expectations other than a night out at Fenway!

The first few innings were a bit sleepy. Buchholz was pitching well, but mainly balls and strikes and not too many exciting plays.

Then, in the 6th, Baltimore scored... and then the Sox woke up and their bats came alive! Mookie singled a run in, Pedroia drove in 2 more runs, and then Big Papi came up to bat. A 428 foot home run right into the bleachers scoring t more runs and the stadium was suddenly alive!

The Sox held on (they're known to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory) and in the top of the 9th Koji came in and 1-2-3 the game was over!

When the Sox win - "Dirty Water" is the anthem played - the entire stadium cheering and singing "Well, I love that dirty water....Boston you're my home" - best way to end a game at Fenway: a Sox win and some Dropkick Murphys.

The season may be less than ideal for the Sox, but let's face it...you have to love the Red Sox!

And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

Glad you got to enjoy yourself. The only fond memory I have of baseball is a neighbor (when I was a child) who always had the Red Sox games on really loud as he worked in his strawberry patch and vegetable garden. Words like "top of the ninth" rang through the neighborhood. No one seemed to mind.

They won the other night cause their greatest fan - who now lives in GA - was in town for the game. Brought 7 of his best fan friends with him - my hubby incluede - and, well...he brings the mojo too! I LOVE THAT SONG! And mostly love it played at Fenway! Don't know if you know, but my son is one of the managers at McGreevy's - bar on Boyleston. One of the DKM's is part owner...so he has some pretty regular contact with the band. I've yet to meet any, but hopefully one of these days! Love your pics - esp Papi on home plate!

Because I am old, I had to Google the original version of the song by The Standells to 1) recognize the music and 2) understand the lyrics. I get it now. Great Sox song!

My dad was a sportswriter for the Herald American and also had a radio talk show called Clif and Claf back in the 70s. This was way before cable TV so when he was home we listened to every game that wasn't televised on the radio. I love to hear the Sox playing in the backround of whatever I am doing

Here I am ...completely ignorant with no idea about the rules or the teams or whatever! Sorry! But I like the action filled pictures and the obvious excitement of the audience.
