St. John's Bridge

In the 17 years that I have been coming to Portland, I have never been to the St. John's Bridge and Cathedral Park. I figured, no time like the present and drove up the river to see this local icon.
The bridge is a gorgeous gothic suspension bridge across the Willamette River. It's the only bridge of its kind in the valley and when it was built it was the longest suspension bridge west of the Mississippi River.  It's a stunning piece of architecture with a beautiful park along the base and the river flowing along underneath. Glad I finally got here!

Beautiful photos! It is indeed a stunning bridge. I grew up close to a city that had the longest single span suspension bridge in the world for many years. Bridges can be fascinating!
