Happy Purim!

Happy Purim!! I just love Purim! Getting to eat hamantashen, having fun at shul, just good old fun!
I kicked off my celebration by making my own hamantashen over the weekend! I used the same recipe we've been using for years and years, just gluten free, of course. I made my fav flavors: strawberry and apricot. Yum-o!
They came out so great and I gave a bunch to friends in my mishloach manot. Seriously wish it was okay to make these all year round! Come to think of it, who says I can't?
I went to shul last night for the megillah reading. We had such a good reading, people reading the book of Esther in funny voices and sound effects. It reminds me of my Rabbi as a kid using silly voices.
I totally forgot my gragger this year, although come to think of it, I don't actually have one... That's were a loud voice comes in handy - anything to stamp out Haman's name!
I love watching the kids in the minyan - they love Purim as much as I did as a kid! It's so cute to see them in their costumes this year. Nothing like little kids, dressed up, on sugar, way past bedtime!
The Purim shpeil was hilarious this year! They made fun of our minyan and it was great! Yes, that is Andy in a Mitt Romney mask - it's Massachusetts, after all...
My costume was an Iron Chef. Get it? I know, I know, budum, bump! Josh and I thought alike, so we were the two Purim chefs. Rena was the mama monkey from "No More Monkey's Jumping on the Bed" - Ruthie, the monkey was MIA at this point.
Of course, good chefs can go rogue! This is all why I love Purim! So much fun - such a change of pace from our usual meetings at shul, having fun, taking pictures, making noise, good old fun!

As we say: they tried to kill us, we won, let's eat/party!! Happy Purim!

I love reading your blog for many reasons, but one of them is reading and seeing all your traditions. Altho I have to admit this is a new one for me. But it looks like LOTS of fun :)

loved reading this - when I was in college I was a nanny for two little boys (who happened to be Jewish) and I fondly remember this! Their GooGoo used to make those pastries!

Happy Purim to you! Love how the jelly in your hamantashen looks like a heart in the top right corner of the first picture. Love the joy and fun that you captured in these pictures too.

Oh my goodness - it looks like such a fun time! I had to look up Purim to try to figure out what the costumes were about - and now I am jealous of all the fun the kids were having!

And those hamantashen look delicious! Did you notice that perfect red heart in the first picture?! :)
