Song-osity: Ocean Side

Just let go and enjoy the ride...
is this the low or the high...
just let go and enjoy the ride...

I've now lived in Boston for 4 years and just finally made it to the Cape this weekend.

Whenever people asked why I'd never been, I would reply "I grew up by the beach, no big deal!"

Well, as another obligation brought me right to the ocean's shores, I realized. Deep down, I so love the ocean and the beach.

I spent a leisurely hour walking the beach. Toes in the sand, getting tickled by the crashing waves. I picked up polished stones, smelled the salt air, listened to the crash of the waves, and soaked it all in.

I was at peace. Didn't once think about the time or where I needed to be or all the things I had to do. I just was one with my surroundings, my inner child so happy to be back on the sand.

It was the perfect way to wrap up summer. Riding the last wave of the season, into the next.

Love these shots - the beach is one of the best natural therapies in life - it soothes and relaxes effortlessly.

Wonderful post Tamar. I grew up by the ocean in New Bedford, MA and now live in the hills of Maine. Total opposite worlds but I love the hills with the lakes and trails now. After living here for 10 years it still feels like I am on vacation. Great feeling! I would still however like to rent a cottage on the ocean sometime for a week or two. Maybe next year. :) I hope your week is going great. New school, new students, new wonderful experiences.

beautiful! I have been to Cape Cod once and obv. the Jersey shore a ton of times, but I'm not the person who misses the ocean. I do like to visit though!

There is something about the beach that is just so soothing and relaxing. I like it better, though, when it's not so crowded as it usually gets in the summer.

Hi Tamar,
I am always struck by how different beaches look from each other. I am a child of the Jersey Shore. Now I live not far from the Chesapeake Bay. I wilt when I don't live by what I call, "Big Water."
Have never been to Cape Cod, but it sure looks beautiful in your pictures.
Smiling at you from Maryland, m & jb

We went to the Cape for our honeymoon 32 years ago, and I haven't made it back since. After looking at your photos I need to put the Cape BACK on my travel list! Thanks for joining in at song-ography.

I rarely make it to the beach over once a year, but I feel the same way about it!

You finally made it. I think sometimes we just become a part of where we are, and the days also go by so fast.

It looks lovely really!

We went to the beach last weekend- of all the months of Summer (boo for us). The kids loved it of course.

Lovely shots! I grew up in Santa Barbara, where I was surrounded by mountains and beach. I moved to Chiang Mai because I chose the mountains over beach. But every time I do get a chance to go to the beach, I remember how wonderful it is too!
