Song-osity: Shaken Not Stirred

Shake it off...
Baby I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake...
Shake it off, shake it off!

Making lemonade from lemons?

Last weekend my kitchen sink backed up. No biggie. I tried fixing it. No dice.

Then the pipes under the sink began to leak. Lovely. Water everywhere. Some kitchen gadget boxes ruined. Tons of towels dirtied. Not able to use the sink.

Plumber said call clog clearing company. Clog cleared. Pipes still leaking. Call the plumber. He'll come two days later. Still can't use the sink.

Two days later and after 2 hours of sawing, replacing, sealing - good as new. Good-bye 80 year old pipes that were entirely rusted out, hello no more leaks and the use of my sink.

It was actually amazing. Not the leak and the chaos and the disruption of life. But that I actually managed to weather this with minimal "AHH!" moments.

I made lemonade out of lemons.

A mess under my cabinets? An excuse to go to IKEA and reorganize.
Having to stay home and wait for the plumber? A longer workout and time at home planning and washing the dirty towels.
Not able to use my sink? A chance to get creative with dinner options and use the tub as a jumbo sink.
Not wanting to make more dirty dishes? An excuse to get starbucks two days in a row.

Guess I take my lemonade shaken, not stirred...
And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

I'm impressed by your flexibility! (I'm so terrible at that.) Although anything for an excuse to go to IKEA...never a bad idea. :)

Brilliant, how great to look on the bright side of things. Glad you were able to get through it with minimal trouble and I'm glad there's no more leaky pipes.

Aw man! Those moments are always a challenge, but glad you came out unscathed. I'm impressed the pipes made it 80 years. I guess they were due for a change.

ANY excuse to go to IKEA is good.

I am glad the ordeal is over. At first I thought it was frozen pipes.

Love your last line-made em chuckle.

What a great way to see the lemons, and I love that "shaken not stirred"!

I guess those 80 year old pipes totally deserved a replacement. I'm happy that you settled everything smoothly and with less hassles. I really like your very positive attitude towards pet peeves coming your way. Keep it up, Tamar. Have a nice day! :)

I am so thankful that there are people out there who are good at doing the things I am terrible at! My sink backed up on me last month, and I had a royal mess all over. The plumber was able to fix it, thankfully. All I had to do was clean up the mess. I have four kids, I know how to do that.
