To live like you were dyin'.
- Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dyin."
These big interactive art chalkboards went up in Coolidge Corner about a week ago.
Such great, positive, thoughts that so many were brave enough to share.
So often we don't want to talk about the "before I die...." we just want to live. But we are also goal driven people. Goals are good, goals get things done.
So as I sat there and read these, and smiled, I thought what do I want to do before I die. God willing I have a long, long time to accomplish these things, but if I only focus on living in the now, some of my dreams may be forgotten.
Before I die...
- I want to travel, really see the world: Australia, Europe, India, and more
- I want to publish a book on my life with CAPD and how it shaped who I am
- I want to run a marathon
- I want to learn to not stress the small things
- I want to go to all 50 states
- I want to be proud of who I am
- I want to scuba dive
- I want to see the northern lights
- I want to LIVE.
What about you?

Wonderful thought provoking post.
Quite the bucket list. Tom The Backroads Traveller
Oh my gosh...I love that soooo much!!
I saw boards like this last summer in Charlottetown PEI. Great song selection for this.
Right now I just want to get through the next few weeks of moving. But I do have some thoughts tucked away in my brain...need to write them out to make them real.
Wow these are all great! I need to think about this! Love the chalkboards!
I want to BE in every moment I live on this earth!
I want to meet ALL of my blogging buddies - in the same place, at the same time, since most of of "know" each other all ready.
I want to live on or very near the water.
I want my Wonder Dog to live forever.
Yes, a very thought-provoking post Tamar. I had to make a list of 100 things to do before I die in a psychology class in college. I think I have done about 75% of them but can't find the list. I bet that was one of the things to do........"find the list." If not, it should have been.
"join the circus!" Love that the list varies from broad and profound to specific and seeming less significant. Isn't amazing how much we hold in common for the big things, but the spices and flavors that make up a list vary so much from person to person. I'm in the process of creating a vision board - whether it will actually ever come to exist as a physical board I don't know - but formulating it, sketching it, listing things out for it...that's been great!
This is fun and thought provoking. I'm not much of a bucket list person because the weight of the list pulls me down. Instead I try to just live each day well and enjoy the opportunities that do come. But I'm always inspired by other people's lists....
I love your goals - life is definitely way too short. Maybe we can meet up for a trip & see the Northern Lights together. It's on my list too & one of the best places is less than an hour from here - it's best to rent the cabin there though since they show up in the middle of the night in the dead of winter :)
Great find. I'd like to see the northern lights too!
Yes, certainly "before dying ...." just we want to live.!
These are fun prompts to ponder.
Hi Tamar!
I wondered why I could never find you. Had you on my Wordpress follow list but not bloglovin'.
I am SO ILL right now. My family and friends know I love them. I just don't want to die with an untidy house or my photographs not in order!
I love all those thoughts put out there! Your list is so great and I know you'll accomplish it all.
A couple of years after my youngest was born I discovered I had a tumor on my ovary. In an instant I realized that nothing could be taken for granted and my 'before I die' list got real basic - let me see my children grow. As long as I get to see that, I'm good. I did add seeing the Rose Parade live as an addendum - but really, I'm good.
I love the list and the comments people posted. Your list is pretty awesome; just recently one of my friends from high school posted she was a mere handful of states away from visiting every state. So cool!
I love that this chalkboard is just sitting on the street, ready for people to express themselves. Great post!
um ...nope, i didn't give them permission, Tamar.
it was on a back drop to a church announcement / public service announcement by a non-profit organization. urgh.
But thanks for thinking it was "a feature". hahahaha.
Now the watermark is more visible and so I can try to see if they benefited from my photo.
have a great day {wednesday}

I've heard about these signs and project. They WERE up in Philly, but I found out about it after they were taken down. Totally bummed I missed it. But the idea REALLY makes you start to think about what you want out of life. Some fantastic goals you have my friend. Thanks for sharing at Song-graphy.
I've actually seen the same boards in a trick-eye museum we went to in Singapore. There were some deep, pithy stuff, but there were also some that were just silly. The kids got a kick out of those. :)
What a great list, travel sounds great to me too :)
interesting concept! I want to go to all 50 states too. I have 10 left. Have you been to Kansas?? I also want to see someone have a baby and meet Tony Goldwyn!
Absolutely LOVE this post! Love the chalkboard and how thought provoking it is. What I liked most about your post today is when you say that if you only focus on living the NOW you will forget about your dreams.... so true Tamar! Let´s dream BIG!!!
I had to look up CAPD! Would love to hear more about this! Only way to live!
What a GREAT and interesting posting!
Yes, I should seriously make a top-10 list of things, and really go for it:)
oh, auf deinem blog ist allerhand los.
ich werde mich erstmal orientieren!
herzlich Pippa
