Lyndhurst Mansion Grounds

Green mansions, high upon a hill
In the countryside where the birds begin to sing...

Green mansions, high upon a hill
Green mansions, quiet and still...

{Green Mansions -- Van Morrison}

Over in Tarrytown, overlooking the Hudson River sits Lyndhurst Mansion.
It was designed and built in the early 1830s and had a series of well to do owners including a railroad tycoon.

While the size of the manner house itself isn't anything massive, the grounds it sits on are stunning and beautiful to stroll along. It was designed with a very English style - orchards, paths, even a (not gutted) conservatory!

I can only imagine what it was like to live on those grounds and have acres and acres to explore!

I was awestruck by the color of the red rose...seriously! My photos (digital) all come out with pinkish reds, or red and whites...when I look at them...and the original roses had looked like your photo. What kind of camera did you use? It's so realistic!

That is amazing. I remember when I visited the Biltmore - wondering what it would have been like to ACTUALLY live there. Same here. What a phenomenal piece of land and architecture!!
