One day down (okay, technically it's been 2 full days)! The year is off to a great start and I am so happy with how my job situation worked out!
I was up and raring (more or less) to go at 5:15, off to the gym, and had a mini-pre-first-day-of-school photo shoot in the locker room, then it was time to hit the road to work! The day went really well! The kids are adorable! I think I have everyone's names down in 3rd grade, where I primarily will teach. I am still working on the 4th grades where I will be in and out supporting kids with learning needs.
I spent the day getting the lay of the land, putting faces to names of kids I had heard about, and helping some kids adjust to being back in school. We also had the typical back to school fire drill (in the pouring rain remnants of Isaac) and whole school assembly. The day actually went very quickly and I am so excited for the rest of the year!
When I made it home (after hitting every red light on my 30 minute commute) I had my more formal back to school photo shoot. Yes, I did print one of those signs from pinterest. Yes, I forgot to realize the mirror would turn the sign backwards!
Best feeling of the day though, was the feeling that I really can do this. I can manage a case load, plan out the next day's lessons, and help a kiddo who is having a rough day. I can do it and I am going to love this year!
1 day down. 169 days to go! (well, really 2 days down 168 to go, but you get the idea!)

I love that you did a back to school photo shoot selfie! It is adorable to see your excitement. I'm really looking forward to following your journey this year as a teacher Miss!
Love how you captured your excitement of the first day. That is a little thing that you will want to remember.
Yay! You are awesome. Seriously, an everyday hero and one of the most important people in our kids' lives. I'm so glad you are off to a great start. And you are totally adorable too! ;)
I'm so excited for you! I think 3rd grade is a great age to teach. They don't need quite as much help as the little first graders, but they still love their teacher!
WHERE do you get your energy??!!??? You truly are the Energizer Bunny :)
good for you - I'm so happy to hear you had a great first day!
Darling sign. Such a positive attitude! All I can say, is lucky kids to have you there. Go get 'em girly!!

oh my... congrats to you! My Honda is a work-horse... went back to your prior post to learn more about this fabulous news.Wooo-Whoooo!
I was wondering what job you might be doing this year. How exciting and I can hear your excitement. I love 3rd graders-they are capable and eager and have a sense of fun without the edge being severed by self consciousness that crops up in those pre-teens.
Best advice-learn their names as quickly as possible and their dogs names, and what makes them smile. I used to have 600 students when I taught music-and I knew all their names within 3 weeks of the start of year-and what made them smile. Saved me a lot on having to heavy hand the discipline.
Good luck with the new job-and don't overdo. You'll need your rest (if not this year) soon. Don't give yourself away, save that enthusiam.
