Almost 2 weeks of work are under my belt. The majority of my time is now spent outside my apartment. Some days I pull back into my parking spot close to 12 hours to when I pulled out of it in the pre-dawn hours. Yet, the long days, and long hours away from home, seem right, seem comfortable, seem normal. Even for this self-professed home-body.
After spending most of my time home this summer, I was ready for a return to scheduled days and structure. I am spending time away from home doing what I love, what I spent so much time and energy training for.Yet, when I do get home there are still the dishes to wash, lunches to pack, and clothes to iron and fold. And despite the possibly of these tasks seeing monotonous, I love the routine I fall into once I am home. It is my home, my routine, my break from my job. This work is my other job, my "can do it with my eyes closed" job, and oddly, I love it as much as the every day, minute, and second is different 8-4 job.
I am fully immersed in real life. Life that keeps me at my school more than it keeps me at home. Yet, I have a life here, the part of my life that lets my brain take a break and lets my body recharge. Dishes, cooking, and laundry combined and I really wouldn't want it any other way...

I feel routine is important, I am happy to see kids om Monday mornings because we are so in a routine scheduled.
I'm afraid there is no escaping the good old housework. :)
I know what you mean! I love the refuge of home after long days. Routine is so calming.

Everybody needs that... and I'm glad that you've found a good balance in yours. :)
Routine is what I look forward to every year. During the summer I'm so lost as to what to do with my time. once the kiddo is in school. I feel my best and in a place. Have a great rest of the week.
"Routine" is like a cocoon to me. Makes me feel comfortable and secure.
I love your contentment, enthusiasm and joy that's evident in this post. Your photos make those chores look lovely. There is something so satisfying about tending to ones place and keeping it in order.
Routine is very important to me too, and I love being "safe" at home after running around all day!
love that you have found the positive in the mundane, and feel grateful about the everyday details that are necessary parts of our lives!
Hooray for routine...I wouldn't survive without one. Nice shots!
Routines are great!
Routines can be very calming to the mind. :-)
I think routine is good for everybody and when achieved makes everybody happy but the hard part is to achieve it first! I struggle with that so bad, these days! Great that you have found yours!
I have that same drying rack!!! I could use 10 more just like it. I hang dry just about everything.
I like your sandwich. ; )
