PB & banana "hot dog"

I'm super excited to be joining the July recipe round-up this month! I got super creative with this month's theme: hotdogs!
1. I'm a vegetarian. 2. I've never even had a veggie "dog" and 3. most veggie "dogs" aren;t gluten-free.
So, what's a girl to do? Make a peanut butter and banana "dog" of course!
I've always wanted to try this, so this was the perfect oppurtunity. I mean, who doesn't like peanut butter and banana? This is the easiest way to enjoy a pb&j!
I used an Udi's gluten free hotdog bun (delicious!), put some peanut butter on both sides of the bun, sliced a banana and stuffed it into the bun. I added some jelly and had intended it to look all pinterest perfect like ketchup, but oops! Believe it or not, the jelly tasted good with the pb&banana! Some watermelon on the side and this is a super fun summer lunch! Enjoy!

I actually made this again since writing this post. I found it worked better to slice the banana into round and adhere some rounds to each side of the bun and then close it up!

Now go take some time to visit these other super creative hot-dog recipes! I promise, theirs will actually include meat (-:

You know Project Runway? Tim Gunn always says "make it work". You totally made this work and it would likely take you on your way to the Udi's version of fashion week

Now, I would eat your version in a heart beat. gluten bugs me and i do detest a real hot dog. (shhhhh- no offense but ya) I can't eat the soy or turkey dogs cuz they pack them with wheat gluten. huhhhh?

I always have extra hot dog buns when we have hot dogs. This would be a great way to use them and my kids would love it!
