P52: Week 37 around the sun

I forgot what it was like to work an almost full week (we had an early dismissal on Friday - so 3 hours shy of a full week!). We packed so much learning into this week and it really felt great to get back into the full swing of things. I am still assessing the kids in some areas but we started our first writing unit and it's going well! My kids are super deep too and we had wonderful discussions as we prepared for Yom Kippur. They blew me away and helped me get into a spiritual space for the holiday.

Yom Kippur was really meaningful for me this year. I had an easy and meaningful fast and felt clear headed the entire time. It's amazing that by the end of nearly 25+ hours without food or water you're able to focus more clearly on the praying and you actually aren't thinking of the food outside the sanctuary. Now it's onto the last of our fall holidays!

Also! I would be a horribly remiss Mar Mar if I didn't wish Ronan a happy 2 month day (it was Friday)! He is getting so big and is beyond adorable! I cannot believe it's already been two months since he made his appearance and over a month since I saw him last.

Highlight of the week: having a meaningful Yom Kippur and an easy fast - it really puts a metaphorical pep in my step going into the year!

Favorite teaching moment: some amazing and deep discussions about the meaning of Yom Kippur - balanced by a child looking out the window in the midst of one of these chats and shouting "squirrel!!!!" - got to love it!

Random-osity: The Red Sox are on a roll (kein eyin hara) and it's been awesome to watch them play ball like this! Go Red Sox!!
I'm working on growing the blog's facebook page - won't you please join me over there as well? I post a sampling of the random things around me and would love to connect there (here) too!

And I am on bloglovin' here! Plus the various other social media sites, see the links at the top right of the page!

Sounds like a great week and holiday. It was our first full week and boy were we tired by Friday afternoon!! It takes some getting used to for sure!

I love the kid yelling squirrel! I feel like life with kids is just like that, all pensive and serious until a kid yells squirrel. Hard to recover after that.

We fast once in month in my church and donate the money we would have spent on the food. Some months it is just so hard for me, and others not so bad, so I'm so glad it went well for you and was meaningful. It really can be a good experience if you can focus on the spiritual side of it--easier said than done though. :)

I'm going to have to root for the Sox since the Phillies long ago hung up on this season. Go Sox!

Yes - GO SOX!!! It's been so much fun to watch them tear it up! And I really love what {and how} you share about your holiday - you have a way of sharing your spiritual life without apologizing or preaching. Just an honest humility. I find it very refreshing and inspiring!

Oh thanks Tamar!

I'm linking my WW Linky to you tomorrow. That photo will make more sense in your hop than my style ones.

Baby Boy is so cute!!!

Sounds like a great week! Glad you had a good holiday also! I used to hate to fast, but that was mainly because I had to do it for blood work or something equally unpleasant. But when I fasted with my daughter while she was doing the 30-hour famine to raise money to help eliminate world hunger, well, that just totally changed my perspective on the whole thing. <-- that was a really long sentence - hope it made sense. :)

Great pics! Can't believe your nephew is 2 months old already! How quickly they do grow!
