Choose happy.

100 days ago (give or take five days), I embarked on the 100 Happy Days project.

105 days ago I walked out of KSA for the last time, closing one chapter; with the summer and a new chapter ahead of me. I figured the challenge would be a fun way to bridge the giant change in my life and help me look for the extra happy moments over the summer. Then, the 100th day would be right after Rosh HaShanah, a perfect way to enter the new, Jewish year.

Some days, there were more than enough happy moments to choose from: there were vacations, fun nights out with friends, time with the nephews, a new classroom to set up, and a new school year to start.

But there were the days that were hard, or long, or hard and long. There were the days that I was under the weather, or overwhelmed, or didn't do anything exciting. But I always found that happy moment, even if it was a mere instant.

I found that over the past 100 days, I made a choice to be happy. I had to consciously find that moment and capture it, acknowledge it, and embrace it.

But then, as in the last 5 days, as the challenge finish line approached, it was honestly hard. My family dealt with some challenges that made me want to close myself off and ignore the good that was happening around us. But there were happy moments, moments to be grateful for, moments to be thankful for.

As I ended the challenge, and entered the new Jewish year, I realized that I need to continue to choose to be happy. I am the master of my happiness. There are always happy moments, even if it means I have to make them for myself. Looking back over the pictures I took, I realize how much happiness is around me, I need to remember that, embrace it and enjoy it!

There's a great big world out there, I'm off to work on finding more happy moments!

also...going to do a better job at promoting my Monday link-up!

Such a good exercise - I haven't remembered every day - but have only had one day when I remembered and said - oh...bag it....I'm too grumpy. It's so true that choice is powerful, and giving in to that feeling of "these circumstances are stronger than I am" is forfeiting one of our greatest psychological tools. Love what you wrote and how you've crossed that bridge from one path to another. Keeping your family in my prayers.

Tamar!

Man I would have flubbed that 100 days of happiness, because I was not very happy at all in the past 100 days, huh?

Thanks for the compliment of my spirit coming back, yup. I am feeling whole and "myself" at last! ♥, Renae

Positivity. Stay positive and great things will happen. Stay happy and you'll be happy. Be thankful of what you have, and continue living the life to the fullest.
This is a great post, and I love the photo. Happy colors. :)

I'm so sorry to hear of the family struggles Tamar - but I am happy to hear that the project helped you get through things. It can be hard to find the good in things when the world is heavy - but projects like this help keep things in perspective & keep us grateful for what we have that IS good.

Tamar, you find happiness wherever you go, whatever you do. You give of yourself which I know brings happiness to others. I am sorry for any troubles that have come your way, but being the strong and capable woman that you are, you will get through even the toughest of times. Congrats on the 100 days, now continue on!!

I loved your 100 days project. I always think of you as one with a positive outlook even in the hard stuff. Choosing happiness, or as I say joy, is a lifelong practice to pursue.
