Hooked on Photobooks

I have always been religious about printing out my photos. I used to upload them to shutterly, then print them, have to place them into albums, etc etc.

About two years ago, I decided to start making photo books for each year, which has turned into a photo book for each half of the year. I can say I am hooked! I love having a bound book of my memories. Plus, placing a mundane photo that I just want to hang onto is easier to justify in a photo book than paying for a print!

I use the apple software for making photo books, I do wish they had a few more templates, especially ones that allowed instagram photos to fit better, but the finished product is amazing and the interface is simple to use. I do love that I can have a page of an event with all the photos grouped together, even though some photos are smaller than if I had printed them, it's a great look.

Here's a glance at the last photobook I put together for the second half of 2014. They're fun to make and I love having a shelf of photobooks full of memories.

I seriously could look at them all every day! I highly recommend printing your memories this way (and nope apple didn't ask me to kvell like this! All opinions are my own.).

Those are great! Also wonderful for sitting with children and remembering. When my oldest grandson was around 14 he told me he wasn't sure things were his own actual memory of the event or just what he's seen in pictures. I thought that was interesting. At least he knows what he did and has the memory even if it was planted at a later date. I think that's a gift I gave him.

I keep meaning to print my blog to have in a photo book, let alone all my other photos. I've used blurb before and been very happy. Great book of memories!

love it! Thank you for screenshotting the pages as so, It's something I'm starting to do from the last book I posted on because it's so helpful to see what others come up with in terms of design and layout!

Wonderful pictures! I make an album for every major trip we take, and find it's a great way to pick out the best photos that tell the story.

Okay - I have been so bad about printing pics. I REALLY need to do this. I have this folder called prints where I dump my processed images that I plan on getting printed. It's been filling for several years & I have done nothing with it. And then now we are here today....where I literally never take pictures unless it's work related. I think the last time I picked up the camera for documenting life was at my mother's funeral. I have never used my new camera for personal pics. I need to find my joy in it again because I don't even snap with my phone for anything but work which is just sad.

I'm inspired by the books & for my children's sake I really need to do it & change my habits. So much of our life isn't documented anymore.

I am with you all the way. I started doing this when my grandchildren were babies and they would come to stay for a few days. Now it has turned into holidays, birthdays, and any other occasion I can find to make a book. It's so much fun to look these books at all the memories our family has made together....

we love to make photo books here too, but it's so hard to narrow down what photos to use!

Those are so lovely! I wish I was better about this. My goal this year is to print some favorites and make a gallery wall for the space above our bed. Fingers crossed it actually happens!

I love photo books too! I always make them for my kids as souvenirs of our vacations and they love them more than any t-shirt we could buy on our trip.

I NEED to start doing this as well! Especially now that there's a baby in the picture. I pretty much never print off photos, and the rare times I do, never do any do anything with them. I do love your idea of two books a year, that way you don't have to worry about it all at once. Also you can include more photos without making the book too unmanageable.
