Song-osity: Blue Angels

We'll get higher and higher straight up we'll climb

We'll get higher and higher leave it all behind...

--Van Halen, "Dreams" - the official Blue Angels

My second year going to the RI Air Show with friends.

One again, the Blue Angels were as impressive as ever. The grand finale of the day, the blue jets zoom across the sky in some of the most breathtaking formations.

At times, the planes are a mere 18 inches from one another as they roll, cross paths, and weave across the crystal blue sky.

Imaging the timing, precision, and skill that goes into this dazzling show is mind blowing. As a former dancer, this level of choreography is insane to think about. Not just counting beats in a song, this requires coordinating air speed, distance, and a whole lot more!

If you ever get a chance to see the Blue Angels, go!

And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

Love to watch the Blue Angels, and I heard recently that there is a new female pilot, first ever. Their risks in flight are incredible.

Yes, they are magnificent aren't they? Saw them once a very long time ago. It was something like 98 degrees in the shade and there was no shade anywhere. I believe it was at an air station in Concord, MA. What spectacular planes.

One of my favorite memories from my childhood was being able to go see them every year - they were based out if Mirimar for the longest time, which was right by where I grew up. So much fun to watch!

Impressive and scary! I remember going to a BA show when I was little at the local Air Force base. And I love that song! Reminds me of the 8th grade. :)

Oh WOW...this brings back FANTASTIC memories. I grew up in Willow Grove, PA which was home to the Willow Grove Naval Air Base. Every year they would host an amazing air show WITH either the Blue Angels OR the Thunderbirds. I lived close enough that we would sit on the stone wall in our backyard and the Blue Angels would fly over our heads...so low at times that we could actually see the pilots. The precision is downright amaaaaaaazing! What type of lens did you use to get these shots? They are great! Thanks for sharing at Song-ography!

These are some of the best shots of the Blue Angels I have ever seen. We watched them practice in Pensacola...I had my eyes covered most of the time!

Ok, never mind. The blue and yellow are my favorites!!!! (already my favorite color combo...and they look so amazing in the sky!) Can't get over how closely they line up - wow!! Also - your neck must have been pretty sore!
