Little Things: Apple Picking

Fall arrived this past weekend, which meant one thing...
Apple picking!!

Shifra, Ellie, and I went out to Harvard (not the university, but the town...) to Carlson Orchards. I've always gone to another farm, but heard they were picked over already.

This place was so sweet and perfect for picking.

We walked the rows of trees and I filled my bag with Macintosh, Macoun, Cortland, and some Gala apples. We had the perfect weather, too. Finally crisp and cool, a breeze wafting the smell of cider donuts and crisp towards the trees.

I've always picked apples after Rosh HaShanah, I'm so excited to be able to use these in my baking and honey dipping this year (plus figure out what to do with the rest of them!).

Happy fall!

Too bad we're never there this time of the year for apple-picking. The kids (and us, too!) would love to do this!

So fun!!!! This is the second year we never made it to the farm down the road to pick apples. I'm so bummed. This has been another really strange year.

I love going apple picking at the orchard. So pretty!! You can make apple sauce in the crock pot. I always make a big batch of it to use up some of our apples when we go picking.

It's so much better to eat apples that you picked yourself, isn't it? :)

How fun! I haven't been to an orchard since I got married. Well, I guess that's not true. We went to one to eat in their cafe, but it was such a cold and rainy day, we didn't go out into the orchard part. This looks like such fun!!!

Oh how fun! I can't recall ever going apple picking. Maybe I should add this to my bucket list? Wonderful series!

When we lived on the east coast we always enjoyed going apple picking. Sadly there are not many apple orchards on the front range of Colorado, so we can't do that here, but we did find a good pumpkin farm and go there every autumn to find our holiday pumpkins.

Yum! - I love fall apple seasons only I just go to the local farmers market to get mine. It looks like you found a great place to get your apples. I need to bake a pie with the ones I have. - So what is, "Honey Dipping?"

Happy Fall! Fruit picking is something I'm not accustomed to. My parents didn't take me to do these things as a child so I wasn't aware of it until early adulthood. Damn my parents. Lol...😄
