Japanese Gardens

We heard about the Morikami Japanese Gardens and decided to take a break from the sand and surf and get in some culture. The gardens are huge - 16 acres - and a beautiful walk through a history of Japanese landscaping and culture. Judah and I are both very used to the Portland Japanese Gardens and were curious how this would compare and we were really, really impressed!
We learned from a nice docent, that the gardens were heavily influenced by the gardens in Portland and made to be as close to true Japan as possible in such a drastically warmer climate. It was super hot when we were there but still amazing to see the lushness of the trees and all the various turtles and lizards in the water and on the grasses. We enjoyed some popsicles at the cafe when we were done to beat the heat before heading to the beach for more relaxing!

We wanted to go there this winter break but decided it cost too much and the day wasn't so nice out!

How gorgeous! And your photos are spectacular - as always. A popsicle at the end is always good :)
