Tel Aviv

We took the train from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv one day - it's amazing - 30 minute trip (compared to an hour drive in Israeli traffic!). We didn't have too much time but made the most of a few hours and had a meaningful trip. We started with brunch with a good friend and walked around the Sarona-Templer district which is being restored to how it was in the late 1800s! It is so cool to see the old buildings in the shadow of the new high rises.
After brunch, we walked over to Hostage Square. The square was set up after October 7th as a memorial and vigil for those who were taken to Gaza as captives when the war broke out. It was beyond somber and so powerful. Some family members have camped out there and share stories of their loved one. There are art pieces and powerful works that make impactful statements about the situation. Yellow ribbons are a symbol for those still waiting in Gaza and were present in the art.
This word in Hebrew "achshav" means "now" - it's a rallying cry by the families of those still Hostage and many Israelis who want a deal made now before it is truly too late.
It was beyond sobering to be there but we felt it was so important to make it there on our trip. We trule need to bring these innocent lives home NOW!

I didn't know Tel Aviv was so beautiful. Yes, the contrast of the old and new is beautiful. I'm so sorry about the hostages. It's just terrible. Praying they are returned soon.

Hostage square seems to be ever changing. I did see some of the same art pieces and some seem to be different.
