Down in Brooklyn at the Red Hook waterfront, there is a lone, blue trolley car parked by the harbor. Back in the ’90s and early 2000s, the Brooklyn Historic Railway Association worked on reviving part of Red Hook’s old trolley line. They stacked real trolleys, including some from Boston on the waterfront steets, and for a little bit of time, there was a mile-long trolley loop.
Eventually, the city pulled the plug and by 2004 the tracks were gone, and most of the trolleys had disappeared. Today there is one former green‑line trolley from Boston (and the line I used to live on!) left. It's become a graffiti mecca and spot for urban exploring down in South Brooklyn. You technically can go into the trolley (I didn't but saw a few people go in...) and it's covered in a range of fun and random stickers too!Tuesday, August 19, 2025
