BAA Half Marathon

Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father...
Run for your children, for your sisters and your brothers...
So you better run!

{Florence + The Machine - Dog Days Are Over}

I did it!! I ran a half-marathon! In the pouring rain!

What an experience. 200+ miles of training culminated in an amazing race day.

I never let the forecast rain get in my head and even fended off a cold all with my eye on the prize - crossing that finish line!

I picked up my bib and shirt on Friday and the reality set in. Mom came up to cheer me on and come Sunday am I knew I was ready.

Running for Dana-Farber was amazing, I raised over $2000 and as a team we raised $760,000 for cancer research. I signed up to run this right after my uncle lost his fight with cancer and knowing that the money is going to help end this disease powered me through.

I got started, just ignored the rain, and just ran. There were some brave souls along the way to cheer us on in the rain and I even went without music because my headphone's bluetooth wasn't liking the rain. The miles really flew by and I never felt tired or ready to give up. I actually only stopped for all of 1 minute, if that. I just ran.

A coworker and his running club were handing out water at mile 11 and I rehydrated with the help from a friendly face knowing I was 2 miles from the end.

It ends in a stadium and I ran in and just sprinted to the end. Never had I been wetter or as proud of myself!

What a day, what an experience.

I even finished within my goal time range --- 2:21:40!!

I will for sure do that again!
