Gender Bending Fashion

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way...

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way yeah...

{Lady Gaga - Born This Way}

The MFA has an amazing new exhibit called "Gender Bending Fashion." The exhibit looks at a century of haute couture and ready-to-wear fashion that has challenged the rigid, binary definitions that surround clothing.

“Gender Bending Fashion” highlights the history oh how fashion has disrupted, blurred, and redefined the societal norms around gender and fashion. The amazing pieces on view also strive to speak to ways in which changing gender roles and the rise of social media as a powerful tool for self-expression have developed in the past century.

I was blown away by the pieces on display and how the exhibition was curated. Amazing colors, fashion choices, and things to ponder!

Great pics! I think it's amazing that it was outrageous for women to wear pants at one point, when you see how many of the population get round in jeans!

I think fashion was first to bend gender idea a long time ago. Great collection. Wonderful outfits.
