Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition NYC

I might not be able to travel to Rome to see the Sistine Chapel right now, but the latest immersive exhibit in NYC brought Michelangelo's amazing works of art right to us. 25 of the most iconic panels from the ceiling have been digitally remade and brought down to eye level. Each one is explained and you can really get a sense of the magnitude of the works.
They had some great facts about Michelangelo. He didn't want to take the Sistine Chapel job originally but agreed to reluctantly. He was tasked with a certain type of subject for his subject but decided he had a better idea and as they say...the rest is history. Stunning history. One day I may get myself to Rome, but for now - this was a pretty great way to see some historic artworks up close and personal.

Having seen the actual ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Italy, I think this is a better way to experience it. You get to see the intricacies in the artwork without crowds pushing at you and getting a sore neck.

This is so cool! I went to an exhibition like this years ago in NYC with Holy Land artifiacts and it was awesome!

Oh wow! While I'd love to see the actual Sistine chapel I bet you can see the work so much better this way.

We did see it in Rome but it will be nice to view them up close and at eye level. It's coming to Philly so we're planning on going.

This is amazing! What a great opportunity! I will probably never travel internationally (fear of flying) but love it when tastes of overseas come this way!

Very beautiful. I was wondering about going to the one in San Francisco and I think I will go.
