NYBG: Van Gogh

The NY Botanical Garden has outdone itself with this summer's show! It's an homage to Van Gogh and his masterful floral paintings. Inside the conservatory, they brought iconic paintings to life with 3D floral masterpieces and a beautiful recreation of his French garden as well!

Outside, they created a lush field of sunflowers, both real and sculptural. It kinda felt like a scene from "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves" walking through the sculpture ones! There was also a whimsical paint palette and a stunning piece in the clock fountain. 

Such a bright, unique exhibit for the summer!

Battery Park Reopens!

For the last 3 years, Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan has been closed for a massive reconstruction. They are slowly raising the park to protect it (and Lower Manhattan) against flooding and other elements of Climate Change. The first section is completed and reopened a few weeks back and it was worth the wait!

The park now has an elevated lawn (covering the new flood wall) and terraced benches surrounded by native plants. I bet in a few years the planting will be so lush and really be amazing! The iconic promenade along the harbor and river is still there too. They installed some fun art up on the lawn and you can relax on the grass or play ball.

More of the park will reopen next year and NYers can't wait!

The Good. The Random. The Fun. v. 34

The Good:

We had a few packed days with the nieces and nephews on Judah's side! We took 3 of the kiddos into the city yesterday to go to the American Natural History Museum and had a blast!

The Random:

I had to chuckle at this adorably random yet fitting fire hydrant in front of a fire station on the Upper West Side!

The Fun:

Jon Hamm was on our street filming an episode for his show "Friends and Family" - there were no sightings, but it was cool to watch a show film right across the street from us!

Happy 1 Year to Us!

Tomorrow marks 1 year of marriage for Judah and me! It's been the most magical year, continuing to grow together and carving out our little life together. This first year of marriage took us to 3 countries, 3 states, time with family, and time together.
